The Blue Jays Claim World Series Meeting Against Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder previously helped the Houston Astros securing the World Series in 2017.

Canada's MLB team reached their first World Series following 1993 by beating the Mariners in the decisive game seven of the ALCS.

Trailing by two runs, Springer smashed a three-run home run in the seventh, propelling the Toronto squad in the majors to a 4-3 triumph in the seven-game series. Next up are the Dodgers, holders of the current crown, in the anticipated championship.

"I'm thrilled for everyone here, the city, the nation," Springer stated, a star of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 championship. "What an amazing experience."

Springer has now connected for 23 total post-season home runs, ranking him third all-time behind Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).

"It's hard to imagine another person anywhere that I'd prefer in that moment except for George Springer with his playoff prowess," remarked Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle, after leading the series two games to none and three games to two, continue to be the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a championship series.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson stated "certainly that it's painful" following his side's defeat at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but applauded their work this season.

"It's a special team. Sadly that we finished on the losing end of this one," he remarked.

The Blue Jays secured the title on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Dodgers in game one on the upcoming Friday.
