Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the championship lead from his teammate by one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before sprint qualifying scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the points battle, sitting 36 points behind behind Norris, ended up in 17th place as his Red Bull team opted for a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, albeit lightly, when he spun at Turn Four soon after starting.
Tsunoda spun out over the curbs on exit before rotating through the gravel trap, and was lucky to avoid just a slight brush of the fence.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the very end of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho turn before the final corner on to the main straight.
Hamilton ended the session in 19th place, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber in third, over half a second slower than Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
