Former Physician Charged with Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Patients
Legal authorities have announced that a ex- physician now faces charges for performing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
The Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – comprising acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
A senior CPS official said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Police Inquiry
The charges come after what investigators called a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
